The best way to get rid of an ant infestation is to first identify where the ant’s colony is. If you can get rid of the colony the ants are bound to leave as they will see it as a threat. If you ensure that your house is kept clean and there are no crumbs of food items or trash lying around that can lead to an unhygienic environment for them to get attracted to, the ants are bound to not come in the first place!

Here are some easy home remedies you can use to keep those ants at bay!

 

Vinegar:

 

 

By mixing an equal amount of vinegar and water in a spray can, you can spray the mixes on the cracks and on the nest directly itself. This will instantly kill the ants and destroy the home.

 

Pepper:

 

 

Ants seem to hate the smell of pepper, so sprinkling some pepper behind your appliances and in cracks on your boards where ants may have a tendency to come from will help keep them at bay.

 

Boiling water:

 

 

This is the easiest solution to destroy an ant hill and the entire colony. If you find an ant colony, it may look small on the top but they run deep, pouring boiling water down it will instantly kill the ants and destroy the nest.

 

Chalk:

 

 

Chalk contains calcium carbonate which acts as a very good repellant to not just ants, but most other insects as well. Drawing chalk lines around your garbage disposal areas and at doors is a good way to keep all types of pests out of your house. However, it is vital that you ensure it is out of reach from children.

 

Lemons:

 

 

Squeeze a lemon or place the lemon peels in areas from where ants tend to enter. Washing your floors with a little bit of lemon juice added to the concoction can instantly ward off any ants that plan on nesting in your home! Anything sour or bitter can keep ants away.

 

Salt:

 

 

Spreading salt in nooks and corners where ants can enter the house can keep them restrain the ants from entering your home. Table salt is one of the cheapest and best ways to get rid of ants naturally. Mix the table salt with some water and put in a spray bottle and spray it in areas where they can possibly enter from.

 

Cinnamon:

 

 

This is a good way of making your home smell good and at the same time inhibit ants from coming into your house. It gives the house a fresh and earthy smell. You can even add a bit of oil to the mixture to give an extra burst of strong smell, keeping the ants away.
